Muralist, Visionary Artist & Journeyman Faux-Painter
Inspired by Nature -- Without Depleting Nature
Jack Alexander came into the world with a unique and unusual gift. As an infant, because he did not respond to a barrage of standard vison tests, he was diagnosed as being blind. At the time, however, he experienced instead a distinctive ability to see and relate to 'auras,' the highly colorful electro-magnetic energy fields that emanate from and surround all animate and inanimate objects.
In an exceptional event that took place in the trance-like state of infancy, an event that he now describes as 'being touched by an angel, as it were,' he received an esoteric massage of his neck, forehead and lower spine. This healing massage opened the opportunity for him to adapt his unique sensibility to that which is generally thought of as normal human vision. Now, as a adult, he readily switches back and forth at will between these two innate sensibilities.
With proverbial brushes in hand, Jack was born with a vivid recollection of the place he had come from before this life -- a lush environment of two suns and three moons, a place he calls "Home World." From the time he was 3-years old, he has been drawing and painting scenes of this rich, idyllic, abundant paradise into which he believes Earth is gradually evolving.
In 1976, Jack revisited Home World when, after driving his motorcycle off a cliff in northern California, he was rushed to the emergency room and pronounced dead on arrival. In what is commonly referred to as a Near Death Experience (NDE), he remained medically dead for two hours and fifty-four minutes. During that time, he spent 155 years on the "other side" in Home World. Only when an orderly in the morgue began zipping him up in a body bag, did Jack take a renewed breath back into his physical body and resume his life here on Earth as we know it.
Originally from San Francisco, Jack recently spent 8 years in Bali, Indonesia and 4 years in Las Vegas, Nevada. He now lives in Sarasota, Florida and travels nationally and internationally, painting commissioned murals, canvases and faux surface treatments for individuals, businesses and organizations. With a visionary outlook and an uncanny ability to move paint, he renders scenes of his former, futuristic realm and of the other world realities. Much of his inspiration comes from a motivational Twin Flame he calls "Yohiel." This guardian angel -- the same one who gave him his sight as an infant -- has been inspiring his artwork since childhood. With Yohiel directing and guiding him once again since 1992, Jack's artworks continue to challenge expectations, provoke the imagination, and touch the depths of Spirit.
Jack's life's mission focuses on the design and eventual implementation of a first-of-its kind, self-sustainable, eco-architectural urban model that uses solar energy, vertical farming and self-contained water purification to feed, house and support a healthy and productive population of millions of on-site residents. Coupling architectural concepts from Pablo Solari with existing technologies that have been independently researched by Marshal T. Savage as well as Jacques Fresco of The Venus Project, the construction of such an innovative, self-contained master metropolis, when properly engineered, fabricated and installed, will maintain environmental integrity while presenting a threshold opportunity in cutting edge, eco-friendly solutions for global food, energy, housing, commerce and agriculture.
As a professional artist, designer, specialty painter and journeyman muralist, Jack has a demonstrated expertise in conceptual model making and has an established ability to communicate ideas in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional visual formats. He is available to collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, landscape architects, urban planners, design teams and/or commissioning agencies to finalize landscape, hardscape and amenity plans in relation to numerous design variations on a similar theme.
At the Paris Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas in 2007, he single-handedly refurbished and repainted the 35-foot high sky ceilings at the "Le Village Buffet" restaurant. He also worked alongside a single co-worker to paint and maintain the faux-wood and faux-marble on all the trim, walls, and columns throughout the Paris Hotel-Casino and boulevard shops. In 2008, he served as foreman, punch crew painter, and journeyman faux painter, adding the finishing touches to the Concierge Suites and Lounge at the Venetian Palazzo Hotel-Casino Resort and to all three towers of guest rooms and suites at the Mirage Hotel-Casino.
For several years in Las Vegas, Jack was also actively involved in the ongoing development of the Las Vegas "Arts District." There, he exhibited individually at Neon Venus Art Theatre and in group shows with wineNart at Artistic Ironworks. To this day, collections of his canvases are featured in the entrance lobby at Cafe des Artistes in Punta Mita, Jalisco, Mexico; at the Loft Galeria in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; at Perry's Joint in San Francisco; and at several restaurants and galleries throughout the island of Bali, Indonesia. Since arriving in Florida in 2009, he has also exhibited one of his archetectual megacity concepts at the Brevard Art Museum in Melbourne, Florida and three of his 8-foot wall treatment drops at Florida Craftsmen, Inc. in St. Petersburg, Florida. Most recently, in September 2009, his painting, "Leper Beauty," won first place in the WQ Mag Fall Art Contest in Sarasota, Florida.
A graduate in fine arts and design from Pepperdine University, he has achieved national and international acclaim for his extraordinary use of color, light, and movement. In Bali, Indonesia, his artwork won prestigious, international awards while he worked as an artist, muralist and faux painter for clients such as Cafe Lotus, Rioshi Japanese Restaurant the Radisson Bali Hotel. Over the past 20 years, he has garnered 'Best in Show' awards in several internationally-juried competitions and has earned professional eclat from the likes of Disney, Playboy, Warner Brothers and Save the Children International.
To hear him tell of his plans or recount some of his experiences, he sounds almost grandiose -- that is until you've viewed his artwork. Best described, his images depict other world realms as well as "art-fantastique" concepts. His paintings are a cutting-edge combination of realism, surrealism and visionary art -- a blend of Michelangelo, Salvadore Dali and Leonardo DaVinci.
Jack's artworks adorn the homes of such recognizable celebrities as actor Dustin Hoffman, Archbishop D. Tutu of South Africa and diplomats and dignitaries worldwide. Clients, decorators, contractors and collectors call him a "master" at his craft and credit his images, murals, faux-finishes and architectural concepts as having healing properties.
