This painting was created in Bali, Indonesia in 2003. The details in the foreground depict traditional Balinese kacak (trance) dancers and a procession of Balinese women carrying ceremonial baskets on their heads. The flowers in the center are indigenous to Southeast Asia.
When viewed closely, one can see dinosaurs playing in the upper left-hand area of the painting. (The Artist apologizes for the inferior quality of the digital reproduction, which prohibits the representation of much of the detail.)

This canvas is a study for a larger mural work. The original is sold including an Artist-signed Certificate of Authenticity.

First Prize Winner of the 2009 WQ|mag Fall Art Contest, this original portrait was painted in 1999 as part of a volunteer, hands-on healing project that Jack was involved in at the Leper Community of Bali in Lalang-Linggah, Indonesia. Although the left-hand side of the 23-year old subject's body had been ravaged by leprosy since birth, her right-hand side remained unmarred and beautiful. Despite the ravage of the disease to her left side, the painting captures a remarkable subtlety of beauty on the girl's right, unmarred side.
Miraculously, within 3 months following the completion of the painting, the girl experienced a total reversal of her condition. The flesh she had lost from leprosy left scars -- much the way a person who has suffered acute acne has scars -- and part of her left ear remained missing. But she no longer suffered the stench nor the festering boils that accompany the disease.
Research indicates that Caucasians possess a specific body chemical that may affect and alter certain forms of leprosy. Perhaps this chemical in Jack's body somehow contributed to the girl's healing.
Dr. Zae Zatoon, Ph.D., a transpersonal therapist and doctor in Natural Healing, purchased the painting in 2003 and donated it to World Peace Center. She asks us to consider yet another possibility.
"Putting attention on that degree of attractiveness," Zatoon suggests, "The painting may have allowed the girl to glimpse her own beauty for, perhaps, the first time in her life. On the psychological level that links body, mind and heart, this viewpoint of a fresh self-perception may well have aided the girl's ability to muster the courage and confidence to live and to heal."
